The Evil Psychology Behind A Cops Uniform And Badge. The Stanford Prison Experiment Revisited

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

In 1971, a bizarre experiment funded by the US Navy, and carried out in the basement of Stanford U, showed exactly how quickly normal, everyday people can quickly turn into psychotic creeps, just because they are given authority over others. But one of the major findings of the experiment was the effect of the uniform, and in the experiment, a baton and handcuffs.

The researchers set up a mock prison in the basement of Standford University’s psychology building, and then selected 24 undergraduate students to play the roles of both prisoners and guards. The participants were selected from a larger group of 70 volunteers because they had no criminal background, lacked psychological issues and had no major medical conditions. The volunteers agreed to participate for a one- to two-week period in exchange for $15 a day.

While the Stanford Prison Experiment was originally slated to last 14 days, it had to be stopped after just six days due to what was happening to the student participants. The guards became abusive and the prisoners began to show signs of extreme stress and anxiety.

While the prisoners and guards were allowed to interact in any way they wanted, the interactions were generally hostile or even dehumanizing. The guards began to behave in ways that were aggressive and abusive toward the prisoners, while the prisoners became passive and depressed. Five of the prisoners began to experience such severe negative emotions, including crying and acute anxiety, that they had to be released from the study early.

In 1971, police uniforms looked like this.

40 yrs later, as citizens have pushed back against abusive police, the police have become much more abusive, and much more intimidating.

The Boston bombing provided the opportunity for the government to turn what should have been a police investigation into a military-style occupation of an American city-Ron Paul

The more America is moved towards a police state, the more aggressive, and deadly the police will become, just like the Stanford Experiment showed. And the more citizens will break down psychologically and do things they wouldn’t normally due, because no one likes to be pushed into a corner..

It’s time that the citizens wake up to this intentional psychological agenda by the people we call “authorities”, and reign in their “authority”, and remind them that they serve us. Cops need to take a look at themselves, and seriously question why they wanted to become cops in the first place, and ask themselves if they have become abusive bullies, just like in the Stanford experiment.

I don’t know, maybe we should make the cops wear white, and take away their fancy, expensive black unmarked cars, and take away their armored vehicles, because if we let this go any further, we too will become like the prisoners in the Stanford Experiment, ya know what I mean?

Well, this is true, but did you mention the badge shape itself? A star? = War-God, Death, military pwer and domination. Whether it is the 5-pointed, 6-pointed, or 7-pointed or 8-pt star.

All points = same God. Not the one of the Bible, either, but condemned. This is the old religion which is condemned. And we were taught the ‘separation of Church and State!’

HHAHAAAHAAAHAAAAAHAAAAAHAA… we need to be crying now

Try reading “On Combat.” This book mostly talks about the effects of combat and disasters on the body and brain of those experiencing them. That’s all very interesting.

The disturbing part is how the author talk about police being combat conditioned and desensitized to violence to make it easier for them to shoot down a human being. As I’ve noted before, part of their training is also to react instinctively to any resistance or defiance forcefully and overwhelmingly, theoretically first yelling and being intimidating and then to physical “restraint” moves or shooting as the case may be. They actually practice this over and over again with other officers or with military style simulators until the reactions are automatic and happen without thinking. Now, beating down or shooting an enemy without think might be great for infantry but not so great for cops.

This has the additional effect of making cops think the only people who understand them are other cops. The result is that they become more inward focused and tribal, sometimes developing an “us vs. the world” mentality. Such a mentality makes civilians seem like outsiders and thus easier to brutalize.

The whole militarizing of police is going to bite us in the backside very soon.
