It’s hard to turn on the news these days.  Every day, there’s some story about White supremacists, racist attacks or rants that just seems to be out to steal your peace of mind.  There are so many of these stories that if TRN wrote about them every day, it would be disheartening. People just need to take a breath, chill on that racist stuff. Admittedly, hard to do when it’s thrown in your face every day. TRN still wants to address the issues because this site is dedicated to keeping you informed, inspired and uplifted, but not bury you in depressing, oppressive news.  So with that in mind, every once in a while, we’ll go in on those racist stories and put it out there to call attention to the problems and put some people on notice that they just need to chill with this crazy, racist stuff….

Price of Admission: First person who needs to chill…Antonia Rader of Georgia.  According to Atlanta Black Star, Rader berated a group of Black teens for sneaking into a movie theater.  Here’s the problem…the kids apparently paid to be there just like Rader. Fortunately, someone videoed Rader assaulting the teens with racist epithets including calling the girls “a bunch of monkeys” and telling them, “You’re going to end up on the streets doing drugs.” The 63-year-old Rader’s husband allegedly hit one of the 14-year old girls.  Both Rader and her husband paid the price for more than just a movie ticket. The two were arrested and charged with assault, but the parents of those teens want something a bit more in line with their crime. The parents say the couple should be charged with a hate crime.

Now Hiring-WHITES PREFERABLY:  The Second person who needs a chill pill is actually an entire company! Virginia based Cynet Systems was inundated by social media posts shredding the company for the following job ad on LinkedIn for an Account Manager:

The company says the person responsible for the post was fired.  And the people who assaulted those Black teens in Georgia will have their day in court(around June 11th).  Cases closed right? So why don’t we feel better knowing justice was served?

Perhaps part of the reason stories such as these have become more rampant isn’t just because some feel emboldened to be racist given the political climate in this country.  The other part of that problem is that elected officials, corporate leaders, business owners, educators, etc., are allowing these problems to take root in the first place. Reacting to racist behavior after it occurs is part of the solution, but implementing and enforcing policies and laws beforehand as part of a proactive agenda is the only part of the solution.  The person who posted the Whites only job ad was fired and will just move on to another job and infect his invective behavior there. The couple arrested for assault will pay the fines, get out of jail and go back to a theater, restaurant or mall and accost more minorities.  Until those with the power to make change actually ban people from their establishments or prohibit them from holding public office, the little insidious threads of racism and hatred will continue to be woven into the fabrics of our society. And every few weeks, we’ll be confronted with more stories and sprees of stupid people who seriously need to just chill on racism.
