Upper Class White People Are Fucking RUDE!

Ug!

There are times when I venture an obscure factoid into a debate, not because I care about the debate so much as that I think the fact is interesting and may give food for thought relating to the discussion.

But WOW are people ever invested in their fucking opinions! Even when I’m gently inserting a fact (not an opinion) I get attacked from all sides by people who are totally invested, ego-wise, in being right!

I offered an insight on Yoga, of all things, and — wow! I don’t think I realized how much of a RELIGION it apparently is to a bunch of spoiled white people, but fucking JESUS! Speaking of Jesus, they are just as bad as any redneck Jesus freak, if not worse because they’re well-off and shit, and so therefore to be heeded!

I am a history buff, and I have interest in several spiritual insights springing from India and thereabouts. So… I’ve come across some things. I don’t think bending your body around and breathing alone are enough to offer “enlightenment.” (But then I’m spoiled and had many brushes with the “beyond” and know better.) But there are some cool things from there all the same.

What’s sad is that the tude I got from these people (several rushed to agree with the first woman) is enough to turn me off Yoga forever, and I PRACTICE it to a limited degree to help my pain issues!! I went to an “international music and art” festival that was actually at least half yoga, and what struck me the most was how “peace and love” everyone tried to pretend to be, but how snobbish and hostile they were en masse! Very “upper class whites” who grew up that way and think they’re endowed with specialness, when the only thing special about them is their privilege (which they are happy to point out to others, by the way)!

Just had to bitch. There is a part of me that really wants to see such people laid low, I must admit. The bullshit I was put through over a simple offering of “isn’t it interesting that… ” was enough to make me boil. I don’t give a shit even if I was wrong (because I’m NOT that invested!) it was the behavior of haughty hostility I can’t stomach.
