Thoughts and Reflections — Another Journal Entry…Along the WAY — Via the Wayfaring Gal
(11/23/2025)
Where Has The Time Gone?
It is late autumn again; and every year about this time, for some reason, I am amazed at how fast the time flies by.
Here it is…and there it goes…

It seems like it was just the beginning of the year and we had barely said goodbye to 2024. And once again I find myself saying it doesn’t seem possible that 2025 is almost gone as well!
I know the Lord only gives us one day at a time, so I don’t look too far ahead; but when I look back through all the years, that’s when I realize my life really is but a vapour; a flash in the pan, as they say in the world.
Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. (Jas 4:14)
It is amazing how much the world has changed since the turn of the century; just as it has for me, since 1999 & the year 2000, when I first became a Christian.
I remember it well.
It was New Year’s Eve, December 31,1999 and everyone was freaking out about major computer systems crashing when the clock turned over at midnight.

“Y2K” as it was called…a new century and all that it implied…

…including all of the world upheavals from the past, until this very day. At least most of us got through it all without the world coming to an end, so far anyway.
Matt 24:6-8:
And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. (Matt 24:6)
For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. (Matt 24:7)
All these are the beginning of sorrows. (Matt 24:8)

Mark 13:7-8:
And when ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars, be ye not troubled: for such things must needs be; but the end shall not be yet. (Mark 13:7)
For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows. (Mark 13:8)
At that time, I was just beginning to read and study the Bible and trying to figure out what it all meant for me; learning about the commandments that Jesus gave us to follow.

Since then, one of the most important things I have learned from studying my Bible is that none of these earthly things matter, not really. These are all of this world and Jesus told us He was not of this world, and neither are we to be.
And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world. (John 8:23)
They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. (John 17:16)
Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence. (John 18:36)
Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. (1John 2:15)

It is not always easy to be in the world and yet not of the world.
We have to separate ourselves as much as possible and not be too involved in the world; lest we become distracted from what we are supposed to be doing:
Firstly, following the salvation commandments of Jesus Christ; while, also in these last days, watching for the signs that will ultimately lead to the coming of the Son of man.

Mark 13:35-37
Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning: (Mark 13:35)
Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping. (Mark 13:36)
And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch. (Mark 13:37)
1999 was the year the Lord called me out of this hell-bound world and set me on a journey that I could never have imagined. The strait gate/narrow way was something I had never heard of before.
Even now, it is not easy trying to explain what the process does to a person. We really have to experience it for ourselves.
The strait gate/narrow way is mentioned (directly and indirectly) throughout the Bible. There are clues everywhere, Old Testament and New Testament:
Matt 7:13-14
Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: (Matt 7:13)
Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. (Matt 7:14)
Job 23:10-12
But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold. (Job 23:10)
My foot hath held his steps, his way have I kept, and not declined. (Job 23:11)
Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food. (Job 23:12)

It is a lonesome road, that each person must travel down by him or herself, if we ever expect to spend eternity in heaven with our Saviour, our Lord and Redeemer Jesus Christ. Jesus said eternal life comes at the end of the narrow way walk.
God setteth the solitary in families: he bringeth out those which are bound with chains: but the rebellious dwell in a dry land. (Ps 68:6)

1Pet 4:12-13:
Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: (1Pet 4:12)
But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. (1Pet 4:13)
It is much like when we were all thrust into this world, and when we leave it….we leave alone, whether we like it or not; even twins arrive one at a time and leave the same way.

And said, Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD. (Job 1:21)
As he came forth of his mother’s womb, naked shall he return to go as he came, and shall take nothing of his labour, which he may carry away in his hand. (Eccl 5:15)
For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. (1Tim 6:7)
The strait gate/narrow way is the only way Jesus gave us to attain authentic rebirth/regeneration; to be born again; i.e., born from above.
It is an absolute imperative; a requirement; and a commandment.
Jesus said we MUST be born again!
John 3:3-8
Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. (John 3:3)
Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born? (John 3:4)
Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. (John 3:5)
That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. (John 3:6)
Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. (John 3:7)

Then, my favorite Bible verse finishes this discourse:
The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. (John 3:8)

On My Wall
The true way of salvation is a fairly simple concept; but it is a most difficult pathway to actually take, according to Jesus; especially with all the obstacles Satan puts in front of us.
Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit. (John 12:24)

It is all because of “the fall” of mankind, way back with the woman in the Garden of Eden, being tempted by Satan, the serpent, saying we could be our own god. (Gen 2:17, 3:1-24; Heb 9:27)
Since then, mankind has been born in the likeness and image of Adam, rather than God’s.
And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth: (Gen 5:3)

Amazing how something that happened so long ago, that “we” had nothing to do with, is now something we are required to remedy: Adam and Eve’s “mistake”.
Though it was not actually a mistake—but disobedience—that caused them/us to be in this mess; and thus began the original “blame game” of mankind.
Gen 3:11-13
And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat? (Gen 3:11)
And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat. (Gen 3:12)
And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat. (Gen 3:13)

If we spend a lot of time studying our Bibles, the Lord will show us many things. When I look back at all the studies I did (“yet not I”); volumes of Scriptures hand-written, with all the backup documents, it is overwhelming. I did not do it on my own!
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. (2Tim 2:15)

Some of My Early Bible Study Notes
I had no Bible software back then; only my King James Bible, a Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance, and a big, old, 1966 Random House Dictionary to rely on. Well, that, and the Holy Spirit of course:
But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him. (1John 2:27)

My King James Bible, Strong’s, and 1966 Dictionary
But because it was really the Lord dragging me through the whole studying process— and still is—it was as though someone else did all the work.
And all thy children shall be taught of the LORD; and great shall be the peace of thy children. (Isa 54:13)
It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me. (John 6:45)
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. (John 14:26)
The Bible tells us that our hearts are deceitful above all things and desperately wicked; who can know it? Obviously not me, well at least not yet anyway.
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? (Jer 17:9)
I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings. (Jer 17:10)
Not only that, the Bible tells us that our hearts are stone, and mine must be made of granite (Eze 11:19, 36:26); because it has been twenty-six years and the Lord is still waiting for me to acknowledge my problem.

Ezekiel gives us a description of true re-birth/regeneration, of being BORN AGAIN:
Ezek 36:25-27:
Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. (Ezek 36:25)
A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. (Ezek 36:26)
And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them. (Ezek 36:27)

The understanding and knowledge the Lord has shown us must go from our heads to our hearts, and therein lies the rub.
How do we make that happen? Well, we really cannot. It is only through the process of the strait gate/narrow way that it can happen.
Twenty-six years, not even as long as some have been waiting, but still…..Then I remember, it’s not my doing; it’s not in my timeframe! It’s in the Lord’s time, when He decides I’m ready, NOT ME! The command is to obey and to wait.
Now therefore, my son, obey my voice according to that which I command thee. (Gen 27:8)
Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD. (Ps 27:14)
I wait for the LORD, my soul doth wait, and in his word do I hope. (Ps 130:5)
And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him; (Heb 5:9)
By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went. (Heb 11:8)

I am beginning to think my head is harder than my heart, and both are made of granite!

Heb 3:14-15
For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end; (Heb 3:14)
While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation. (Heb 3:15)
As best as I can understand, it is Introspection that’s needed for us to become aware of our true nature; as well as something only the Lord can truly show us. And this introspection only comes, once again, via the strait gate/narrow way journey.

Encarta Dictionary; English (North America) defines Introspection as:
Self-examination; the detailed mental examination of your own feelings, thoughts, and motives.
I have never been very big on that psycho-babble stuff; but okay, I thought that’s what I had been doing; so then what more is there? The Bible helps us:
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. (Heb 4:12)

Where is He? How do I find Jesus?
Oh that I knew where I might find him! that I might come even to his seat! (Job 23:3)
There are some hints in the Books of Matthew and Luke:
And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. (Matt 10:38)
Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. (Matt 16:24)
And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. (Luke 9:23)
The Bible says He is not far from us:
Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: (Isa 55:6)
That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us: (Acts 17:27)

It couldn’t possibly be because of the wayward “sabbatical” I’d been on for those 5 years, could it? When seeking the Lord was no longer FIRST?
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. (Matt 6:33)
I mean, after all, just because the Lord had to intercede with that terrifying dream/vision I had on July 1st of 2020 to get my attention—a very pivotal point for me—surely I had been searching my soul for the answers to my stony heart!

Or maybe not…who am I that Thou art mindful of me Lord? Why do you even bother with me?
What is man, that thou shouldest magnify him? and that thou shouldest set thine heart upon him? (Job 7:17)
What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? (Ps 8:4)
But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man, that thou visitest him? (Heb 2:6)
It can only be because of that unconditional [Divine Agape] Love that He has for His creation; a Love we can never understand unless and until it is shown to us at rebirth.
It is that love which we lost, as I wrote above, at the fall, in the Garden of Eden. That is what we need to get back.
Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. (1John 3:1)
Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. (1John 4:7)
He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. (1John 4:8)
For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. (1John 5:3)
For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. (1John 5:4)

I feel like a spoiled little brat sometimes, stomping my feet because I can’t have it MY WAY!
There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. (Prov 16:25)
This worldly, impatient thinking is certainly a reflection of our times; everything is instant gratification. No need to have self-control, and wait, and save-up for something that is worthwhile.

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. (Prov 22:6)
We have raised up the “NOW” generation, from cradle to grave.
We are taught to rely on credit as our safety net and to satisfy our every whim.
I am guilty of this myself, in the past, falling into the credit card trap. And I am thankful to God for getting me out of that bondage.

The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender. (Prov 22:7)
Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law. (Rom 13:8)
Scripture also tells us, “In your patience possess ye your souls” (Luke 21:19). Truer words have never been spoken, which has a much deeper meaning than just waiting for material possessions. I believe this is one of the prime lessons the Lord has been teaching me among many others.
That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises. (Heb 6:12)
Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. (Jas 1:3)
But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. (Jas 1:4)

Just thinking out loud, if a thousand years are but as a day to the Lord and vice-versa, then I guess my puny little twenty-six years is not even a blink of the Lord’s eyes.
But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. (2Pet 3:8)
Based on “a thousand years as one day” (and 24 hours in a day); then, we can roughly estimate ten years in “our time” as being about 15 minutes in “God’s time.”
So, from God’s perspective, I have only been waiting for about 39 minutes!
For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry. (Hab 2:3)
For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. (Heb 10:36)
For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry. (Heb 10:37)

Introspection…

Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up. (Jas 4:10)
It is amazing to hear the testimonies of others on the strait gate/narrow way (two noted below)—how similar they are—and, even though the details may vary, the gist of it is so familiar.

We know the Lord’s hand was in it for all who are searching; always seeming like a fluke, but knowing that it wasn’t, when you hear the details of how it happened for each person.
That is the first miracle God performs to catch us and start the strait gate/narrow way process.
And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. (Matt 4:19)
And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men. (Mark 1:17)

Once we are “hooked” and make the decision to find the truth (Lk 14:28), our stories continue on a similar path. That is, once we have maneuvered past all the obstacles placed in front of us at the strait gate.
As the Bible tells us, this salvation pathway is called “the narrow way”; where every narrow way walker’s objective is the same: following after Jesus, never stopping, until we find life (Jesus said He is the life), being BORN AGAIN.
Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. (John 8:12)
We become as one Spirit, likeminded through the Holy Ghost, because it is He who will guide us into ALL truth:
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. (John 14:26)
Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. (John 16:13)
Eph 1:13-14:
In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, (Eph 1:13)
Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory. (Eph 1:14)
There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; (Eph 4:4)

“I will make you fishers of men” (Mt 4:19)
I have heard of a few people, a very few, who have genuinely gone through the rebirth experience (Jn 14:21; Titus 3:5; 1Pet 1:13), but I have only known one of them personally.
There is one young woman who gave a stunning testimony that is inspiring and well worth a listen; one who is not only humble and honest, but also very encouraging for the narrow way walker.
Job 33:23-24
If there be a messenger with him, an interpreter, one among a thousand, to shew unto man his uprightness: (Job 33:23)
Then he is gracious unto him, and saith, Deliver him from going down to the pit: I have found a ransom. (Job 33:24)
Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom. (Luke 12:32)

Other than that, in the small group of people I’ve come to know since “entering in”, only one of us has had the rebirth experience as I said, and none other as of yet. We are all still in expectation of it as we wait. After all, where else can we go?
John 6:65-68
And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father. (John 6:65)
From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him. (John 6:66)
Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away? (John 6:67)
Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. (John 6:68)

Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life. (Prov 13:12)
So that’s what I try to remember whenever I start questioning God’s motives about why I have not yet been born again, when others have been so blessed. (Matt 20:1-16)
I am blessed to have been called out at all and will continue following after Jesus as best as I know how, praying the Lord God Almighty will have mercy on me. I will also try to remember God’s promises if/whenever I find myself in the doldrums.
Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. (John 20:29)
Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. (2Pet 1:4)
Standing on the Promises | Glen Campbell | Lyrics:
Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer; (Rom 12:12)
For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. (Heb 10:36)

LYRICS
Standing on the Promises
Standing on the promises of Christ my King
Through eternal ages let His praises ring
Glory to the highest, I will shout and I’ll sing
I’m standing on the promises of God
Standing, standing,
Standing on the promises of Christ my Saviour
Standing, I’m standing,
I’m standing on the promises of God.
Standing on the promises that cannot fail
When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail
And by the living Word of God I shall prevail
I’m standing on the promises of God
Standing, standing,
Standing on the promises of Christ my Saviour
Standing, standing,
I’m standing on the promises of God
These are my thoughts at this time, as I watch—and continue to wait—for the revelation of Jesus Christ; and for that blessed hope…maybe today Lord?

Let thy mercy, O LORD, be upon us, according as we hope in thee. (Ps 33:22)
Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; (Titus 2:13)
Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; (1Pet 1:13)
