Recent actions taken by the Trump administration in December 2025 paused the processing of existing immigration applications (including green cards and citizenship) for nationals of 19 “high-risk” countries already subject to a June 2025 travel ban.
The current action is a pause in the adjudication of benefits for people already in the U.S. from these countries, not a complete new travel ban on immigration from the 19 countries that were not previously in place. A separate travel ban proclamation was issued in June 2025, which restricted new entries.
