        philosphers-stoned again

what has a weather balloon got to do with satellites? nothing!! ergo not clear in any sense of the word, specially when listening to the rantings of that imbecile

now this is as clear as it gets – the ISS transiting the sun

I agree Andy. I used to have a link on my desk top to a live satellite tracking page. You could enter your zip code and your location would be on the center of the map. you could see satellites on the map headed toward you location and from just after dusk for about an hour you could see some of them in the sky. It work so well at my location, it would be interesting to have observers a few hundred miles apart viewing the same satellite. For low earth orbit satellites the first observer would see it at the peak of the field of view at a particular time and the second observer (if they were in the orbital path) would see it at the peak of the field of view about a minute later. The results would be confirmed by phone. No weather balloon covers 200 – 300 miles in a minute. By the way. What kind of balloon would one use for geostationary direct tv satellites? How would they stay in place.

It totally makes sense that a piece of electronic hardware with solar panels might be sent up to float around the world for an extended period of time. The solar panels would recharge the batteries every day. The device could be functional as long as the balloon was functional. But that is not a satellite. That is a scie

            • Wirkbot

ntific experiment with solar panels attached to a balloon.

Sure looks flat to me. Always did from airline windows too. In the end it makes little difference to me. I am one small dude in a big world. Regardless of it’s shape. But it is great fun talking with friends and pointing out that they really don’t know what shape the Earth is. They always say “of course it is round”. Then I say “prove it”. And they always say science proves it, and I say “show me”. And they never can, so far anyway. We only know what we are told…

go to any seaside hotel, 10th floor or higher and line up the balcony railing with the ocean, you will SEE the curvature of the earth with your own eyes

also, next lunar eclipse, take note of the shape of the shadow of the earth as it passes over the moon, it is curved, not straight

Before I would be willing to invest any time in watching the video I would need to know if the video deals with the following issues along with a brief description of how each issue is dealt with:

Earth does not rotate (common to most flat earth theories). Therefore it assumes that the sun, stars, and all the planets are moving every 24 hours around us.

      lunar eclipses

      Geostationary Satellites and orbiting Satellites.

If you live above the arctic circle you know all about having weeks during the summer when the sun does not set. It just appears to move sideways around the horizon while those of us further south still get sun rises and sun sets every day. yep. The earth is spherical and has a wobble as it spins like a top. Tops wobble to.

My personal favorite is round Jupiter. The big red spot goes round and round due to the rotating of the large spherical planet. The red spot has been continuously observed for 188 years, since 1830.

The gently swaying Foucault Pendulum in the W.M. Keck Foundation Central Rotunda has long been a visitor favorite since the building opened in 1935. One of the largest such devices in the world, the fully restored pendulum is actually an elegant scientific instrument which demonstrates the Earth’s rotation.

The Coriolis Effect: An effect whereby a mass moving in a rotating system experiences a force (the Coriolis force ) acting perpendicular to the direction of motion and to the axis of rotation. On the earth, the effect tends to deflect moving objects to the right in the northern hemisphere and to the left in the southern and is important in the formation of cyclonic weather systems

The sun is overhead right now. Shall I call someone in China and ask them if the sun is shining there as well right now.

      Jupiter’s moons orbit Jupiter.

A ship going out to sea disappears over the edge in a very short time as if there is a curve. Please don’t tell me its my optics.

Perhaps the earth is the center of the universe and the sun, moon, stars, and galaxies move in a circle around a fixed point (north pole / geographic center of the earth) every 24 hours.

don’t ask silly questions, it’s flat because parrots like parroting the ignorance of others

    • wheeties

nut jobs, extremely mentally ill–why argue with a nut job, only makes you the greater fool–there is a chance guys like phil who is always stoned is a big time prankster but i think he is way out there whacko who gets off on his nut job bullshett– i think its all kinda funny all this pure bullshett and the debate–its like going to a nut house for an hour, watching the freaks!!

your avatar suits you, though it appears evidence the monkey has the greater IQ, by a large margi9n

        • Andy

          evident & margin,, oops

    • No time

      Yeah, it’s pretty convincing.

    • Wirkbot

I have a couple of 10 watt solar panels and some salvaged electronic junk. I need to go to Party City and get some balloons. MUST do hoax video. Must do hoax video.

      Warning, flat-earthers, truth-bomb incoming!

      bam!

    • Grzegorz Krzysztof

Shot t f up and read.
Even some free graphics and motion picture editors have the editing tool to freely manipulate perspective – making flat round and round flat. My 11 y.old son can do that, so do not make yourself an idiot…

    • The Seer

No Flat Earth … Shut up and don’t bother watching

    • No time

      Good work.

    • Wirkbot

People have been viewing sun rises and sunset as sell as moon rises and moon sets on east and west coasts for centuries. Zillions of photos have been taken and never do you see the Silhouette of China, Japan, Africa, Great Britain, Spain, Africa Etc. You can however see Catalina island from at least one location on the California Coast. It is relatively close on the curve of the earth. You can also see galaxies with telescopes from earth as well as distant stars on the horizon.

Check out the album cover. We have not found the edges yet. Perhaps someone can provide some pics of the underside.

    • MediaMike

Sorry, but I’ve been over 1000 miles up. It’s round, just like everything else out there.

      • Greybeard

Well sort of round, more water melon shape due to the fact that it’s a liquid world……

    • Cousin_Jack

Is there a chance that I might look in the sky above me one day and see another planet there, on the page above us in the book we’re in? Do you mean by flat that we haven’t been assembled yet, is the universe one big Ikea store?

    • Wirkbot

Does anyone have any aerial or exo-atmospheric footage (panorama or fish eye) of all the continents on the same side of the “disc”?

    • Wirkbot

      Have you heard about CubeSats?

      Link:

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CubeSat

No longer do nation states and multi-million dollar corporation have a monopoly on space, space exploration, and scientific research of space. CubeSats (ultra miniature satellites measuring roughly 10 x 10 x 11 centimeters can be placed in low earth orbit for about $100,000 dollars. There were approximately 75 CubeSats in orbit by the end of 2012. Other cubesat formats include 12×24×36 cm and 24x24x36 cm. Think of the possibilities in regard to “flat earth” research. No balloons required. This puts original space based, low earth orbit within the budgets of larger universities which could rent out research time to non university entities that could make use of instruments such as cameras, transmitters, thermometers, barometers, gravimeters, etc.
